NATIONAL
ROLLER DERBY HALL OF FAME
Steaks on South / October 26, 2007
The
glory days of old-time Roller Derby came to life again as the
game’s greatest stars reunited with their Delaware Valley
fans in a joyous weekend-long celebration presented by the
National Roller Derby Hall of Fame. Judy
Arnold, Buddy Atkinson, Jr., Vinny Gandolfo, villain-turned-hero
Judy Sowinski and other Philadelphia Warriors skating legends
returned to the public eye to celebrate the Warriors’ 40th
Anniversary with their faithful followers and toast the 2007
Hall of Fame inductees.
Revelers
got the festivities started in grand style on Friday night
at Steaks on
South. The event – organized by CheeseSteakTown.com – featured
a cheese steak eating contest, plus special live performances
by former Johnny’s Dance Band singer/guitarist Courtney
Colletti, and The Orlons, whose signature chart-topping 60’s
hit South Street (“Where do all the hippies meet?”) made South Street a world-renowned destination.

Under
grill master Randy’s watchful eye, SOS showed why it
made CST’s “Best Steaks” list.

Buddy
Atkinson, Jr., Dru Scott, Richard Brown, Judy Sowinski and
Vinnie Gandolfo
were just a few of the great old Philadelphia Warriors skating stars on hand.

Derby – The Next Generation
Young skaters from the Penn Jersey She Devils joined in the revelry.
