The
WHIZ KIDS are huge fans of John’s Roast Pork:
|
|
FRIED
ONION: “If you’re looking for a REAL Philadelphia
steak place, it doesn’t get any more real than this.
John’s is a shack at the edge of a wasteland, with
railroad tracks on one side and what looks like the Gotham
City Axis Chemical Factory on the other. By the way, you
won’t find a better cheese steak anywhere.” |
| |
|
|
|
HALF
WIT': “Although named in honor of its excellent roast
pork sandwich, John’s makes one of the best cheese
steaks in town. And although you can’t get Whiz on
your steak, you can get your steak on a sesame seed roll.
John’s uses plenty of meat, but if you’re still
hungry, just grab yourself a Tastykake for dessert.” |

SON
OF SWOOP: “‘Blue Collar’ is right!
John’s
is serving the guys breakfast sandwiches by 7 AM. The grill
shuts down at 2:30 PM right after lunch, and the doors
lock at 3. If you yuppies, suits and college kids are looking
for dinner, go look someplace else. Too bad John’s
isn’t open on weekends before Eagles games, though.” |

OZZARD
OF WHIZ: “John’s goes back to 1930, the year
the steak sandwich was invented. And Fried Onion’s
right – this place is the real deal. You won’t
see tourists or guys in suits here, and if you’re
lucky you won’t see SOS either. What you WILL see
is friendly service and one of the best steaks you’ve
ever had.” |
