The
WHIZ KIDS rave about Steve’s:
|
|
GRETA
NORTHEAST: “I’m from the Northeast – how
could I not love Steve’s? I mean, why go all the
way to South Philly when there’s a steak place (three,
actually) just as good right here? Just as good or maybe
even better – thick-cut meat makes a Steve’s
steak a treat like none other.” |
| |
|
|
|
BIG
CHEESE: “I’m with Greta 100 percent
on this one. What’s the key ingredient in a cheese
steak? Steak! Steve’s gives you that thick-cut steak.
Man o man, what a sandwich! I think they use a different
kind
of roll as well. No doubt about it, Steve’s is the
place to go in the Northeast. It has a cult-like following
there.” |
| |
|
|
|
LIBERTY
BELLE: “I suspect Steve’s adds something
to the Cheez Whiz too. You can’t call yourself a true
Whiz Kid unless you’ve been to Steve’s. I love
going to the original location on Bustleton, near the Roosevelt
Mall. It’s an odd little building and you watch the
grill action through a window – what ambience!” |
| |
|
|
|
HALF
WIT’: “Let’s make it 4-for-4. Steve’s
sandwich is different from everyone else’s. Thicker-cut
steak, different bread (maybe), different Whiz (maybe),
different section of the city (definitely). It’s
like a cheese steak for the cheese steak purist. Steve
calls himself a Prince out of respect for Pat, but he’s
being too modest.” |
